Five Things to Do in Colorado Before the Super Bowl

It’s t-minus two days until the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers face off in Super Bowl 50, and we’ll bet you can’t wait until the big game is officially on your big screen. Until then, though, there’s a gap – one which is traditionally filled with nervous eating, trips to the liquor store, and hypothetical discussions. The good news is that our beautiful landscape is still offering plenty of activities to keep you busy through Sunday afternoon. Here’s our list of five things to do in Colorado before the Super Bowl.

David Bowie Weekend – Sie Film Center – $7 to $11

Catch two films (one Friday night, one Saturday night) honoring the late pop icon. The first, titled “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” features Bowie as an alien who fell to earth and becomes a wealthy industrialist. It airs at 9:30pm on Friday, February 5th. The second, titled “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” takes a documentary-style look at one of Bowie’s live performances from 1973. It airs at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 6th.

Wyeth – Andrew and Jamie in the Studio – Denver Art Museum – Included with Admission

Father-and-son duo Andrew and Jamie Wyeth’s works are on display, their largest ever, at the Denver Art Museum. Entering its final weekend before heading to Spain, the Wyeths’ works include pen and ink, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, dry brush, tempera, oil, and mixed media. Admission to the exhibit is included with your museum entrance fee – be sure to check it out before it heads across the pond!

Vera Rubin: Bringing the Dark to Light – CU Boulder Fiske Planetarium – $10 – $25

This suitable-for-all-ages, 30-minute play features just one act and two actors representing a dream encounter between an astronomer and Sir Isaac Newton. One of the first efforts of its kind in the United States, the play combines live performance with state-of-the-art planetarium projection technologies. Shows start Friday night and run through the weekend, including Super Bowl Sunday, if you’re so inclined.

Held at the Calvary Temple on Saturday, February 6th from 11am-1:30pm, festival goers will experience authentic Chinese foods, culture, entertainment, crafts, calligraphy, costumes and more.
