5 Upcoming Shows to See in January

Start the New Year off right by incorporating activities you love into your week. We know everyone is busy with work and family stuff, but why not get out at least once per week to regenerate? That’s why, this January, we’re suggesting getting out and seeing a concert. Whether you’ve heard of these bands or you’re up for something new, each of the events offers something for everyone: a good time, great music and a chance to get out of the house and celebrate music. Schomp MINI loves music! We’d love to share some upcoming concerts this month.

REEL BIG FISH / LESS THAN JAKE

  • Thursday, January 15 @ Ogden Theatre
  • 7:30 PM
  • Tickets

Both of these ska/rock bands are back at it with a duel-headlining show that shouldn’t be missed. The tour starts in Colorado with a performance at the Odgen on Thursday, January 15. Don’t miss this collaboration of ska/punk/rock bands like you’ve never seen them since their start in the early ‘90s!

ROB DRABKIN

  • Saturday, January 17 @ Bluebird Theater
  • 8:00 PM
  • Tickets

This last Summer, we caught up with local musician Rob Drabkin about his music. He’s got soul and we love seeing him perform. You can catch his next performance on Saturday, January 17 at the Bluebird down Colfax. This show will be a birthday celebration for Drabkin, so come and party with some rock improvisation and singer/songwriter style.

COLD WAR KIDS

  • Wednesday, January 21
  • 7:00 PM
  • Tickets

It’s hard to believe that Los Angeles rock (with a bit of Indie flavor) foursome Cold War Kids has already released its fourth album. But this band, that traveled the world with sold-out shows, has even more to offer. If you remember the band’s first big single, “Hang Me Out To Dry,” you can bet that the band’s new stuff is just as good, if not a little more aged.

ADRIENNE O

  • Friday, January 23
  • 7:00 PM
  • Tickets

If you’re looking to find new local artists, you have to check out Adrienne O. It’s an indie/pop/rock band from Denver that is described as sounding like Florence + the Machine and OneRepublic. Led by a female singer, Adrienne, the band is starting to make headlines here, and is performing with localites, Chemistry Club, Monroe Monroe and oneflewwest.

MATES OF STATE

  • Saturday, January 31 @ Larimer Lounge
  • 8:00 PM
  • Tickets

For a more relaxing and less drunken crowd, head to Mates of State when it performs at the smaller venue downtown, Larimer Lounge. This twosome from Connecticut is a married couple whose lovely lyrics and charming harmonies make for one romantic and fun show.
